Essential Job Duties:
The Department of Performing Arts and Technology at North Carolina State University invites outstanding applicants for a full-time, nine-month professional track faculty position in Music Technology (faculty at the Assistant Teaching Professor rank carry 3-year renewable contracts, faculty at the Associate Teaching Professor rank carry 4-year renewable contracts, faculty at the Teaching Professor rank carry 5-year renewable contracts).
This position will play a leadership role in the launch of a newly-approved undergraduate curriculum in music technology in collaboration with the university's Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. Music Technology faculty will develop and teach courses culminating in a capstone design project involving industry prototypes with real-world applications. The Department seeks a faculty member whose interdisciplinary work spans both creative and research practice in the fields of music and electrical or computer engineering. The successful candidate should prioritize advancements in the invention, design, and implementation of music technology over the application of existing technology to music production, composition and performance, and will demonstrate a strong commitment to effective teaching and mentoring of students. The expected start date is Fall 2024.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience:
PhD or DMA in computer music, music technology, computer science, electrical engineering or other related field or Master's degree and equivalent professional experience. All but dissertation (ABD) will be considered.
Other Required Qualifications:
Demonstrated ability to collaborate with educational partners, business/industry, or external agencies.
The ability to lead interdisciplinary programs requiring faculty collaboration.
Preferred Qualifications:
Three to five years teaching experience at the university level.
PhD or DMA in music, music technology, computer science, electrical engineering or other related field.
Experience and/or credentialing in both music and engineering
Prior experience in leading and building new programs within an academic institution.
